My dog has been having gastric issues and kidney infection issues for the past month but that aside, what causes dark green/brown stools?

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Stool color can be altered by changes in food, especially if colors are added by the manufacturer, intestinal parasites, and intestinal bleeding. Intestinal bleeding can be caused by ulcers, parasites, or conditions such as IBD. This changes the color of the stool due to products of blood digestion, which are black to dark green in color. Kidney conditions can cause gastric ulcers as certain toxic compounds build up in the body and alter acid production of the stomach. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have about Chi!
