My 2.5 year old chiuaua / jack Russell mix has thrown up 4 times today with mucus/bloody diarrhea. Could him eating cooked steak and pork bones be causing this?

Yes, either or both may cause gastrointestinal upset or, more seriously, pancreatitis. If he is behaving normally otherwise, you can try withholding all food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Begin with 1 tablespoon every hour and gradually increase the amount if there is no vomiting. Feed bland until the stool is normal then transition slowly to his regular diet. If symptoms do not resolve or if Emmitt develops lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain, have him examined right away by your veterinarian. A simple blood test can be done in the clinic to screen for pancreatitis.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes, this is very possible that he has dietary indiscretion from eating something like that. I recommend that you him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for treatment. They would be able to check for this possibility and most importantly start therapy for this which would include anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea medications and to ensure that he is not dehydrated and if he is to treat accordingly. It is also important to ensure that he does not have an obstruction. Good luck!
