Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 years and 5 months old | 9 lbs
My 10 year old cat suddenly has had a very intense mood change. Where before she was very reserved, She is now climbing on the kitchen table, much more social, and wants to eat any and all food. Yesterday she took a bite of a cookie I had in my hand before I could even pull away, as if it was the first food she'd seen in weeks. Im loving her new social nature, but I'm worried about the food seeking, as this was never an issue before. Should I be worried?

Cats can have mood changes sometimes and you never figure out why! However based on your description and Hana's age, I would be concerned about a condition called hyperthyroidism. When cats have this disease, they become almost hyperactive and act very hungry. Later in the disease process you can see other abnormalities as well. This disease is generally easy to diagnose with a blood test and there are many treatment options which tend to work effectively and don't tend to be overly expensive. The other condition I would rule out would be intestinal parasites as they also take food from Hana which could be causing her to be more hungry. Please post again if you have any further questions!
