My dog is still vomiting, won't eat, and losing weight. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 52 lbs

I took Tank to the vet after finding him throwing up and refusing to eat. We think its from eating litter and cat poop. They gave him an anti vomiting shot and medication and told us to start him on a bland diet. He was fine for a few days but he is vomiting again and wont consume anything but water and his medication. He has lost a lot of weight and we are worried.

I am so sorry to hear that Tank has been so unwell. It sounds like you have tried a great deal to help him feel better. Because he has been unwell for so long and now is refusing to eat I would suggest you take him back to he veterinarian for a reexamination as soon as you can. I would be concerned about pancreatitis or a foreign body stuck in his gastrointestinal tract. These can both be check for by your veterinarian and treated appropriately. In the meantime try adding unflavoured pedialyte to his water bowl or low sodium in chicken broth to keep up His fluid intake. I sincerely hope Tabk feels better soon and please ask any further questions you may have here on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. We are here to support you both.
