My rabbit hasn't eaten all week and is lethargic. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 13 lbs

I have a white rabbit with red eyes, forgot the breed name. She hasn't eaten all week but she has been acting more calm than normal. I have tried switching foods, giving her veggies, and putting her in a new environment. Nothing seems to be working. I can not afford to go to a vet right now because of family issues. Any ideas as to what could be wrong?

I'm sorry that Daisy is not feeling well! Even a few days of not eating is cause for concern in rabbits, as it can slow down their gastrointestinal motility, and be life threatening. Her loss of appetite can be caused by many conditions ranging from tooth issues to overgrowth of certain intestinal bacteria or even joint pain. Daisy should be seen by a vet as she likely needs fluids and nutritional support while a diagnosis is made. I hope Daisy gets well soon!
