Can outdoor cats stay warm in snow? How to help them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

hi, i have 3 cats each 3,2 and 6 months. The 2 older cats ate inside outside cats, we live where there’s a lot of land so they go out for hours then come home sometimes the older one stays out for 24hours, but i live in north carolina where it just snowed about 3 inches and i just wanna make sure that cats can stay warm cause i get worried about him when it’s cold out but now there’s a little bit of snow so i’m just worried he’s freezing out there

Cats are amazing resilient and generally will come home if they need additional shelter above and beyond what they can access when roaming. Providing an insulated outdoor shed/kennel/cat box can help should he return unknowingly
