Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 11 months old

My 8 year old husky started limping 2 days ago on her front paw. This lasted a day. She has since been drinking excessively which has led to excessive urinating. Today she seems to have difficulties keeping 1 eye open, it is bloodshot. Shes eating if she is hand fed. I cannnot take her to the vet until friday when i get paid. She doesn't seem to be in pain but is lethargic

It definitely sounds like Sophie needs to be examined by a veterinarian. Excessive urination and drinking can be indicative of certain diseases like diabetes or Cushing’s. Your vet can perform lab work to screen for these tests. Until you can get her to the vet Friday, keep her as calm and comfortable as you can at home. Continue encouraging her to eat, even if you have to hand feed her. You may want to try and encourage her to eat with some canned food or plain boiled chicken. Also, continue to offer her access to as much fresh water as she needs. I hope this helps. Best of luck. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
