I think my dog has fleas. What's the best way to get rid of them?

You must also treat all pets in the home every 30 days for at least 3 months in a row. I would also pick up a house flea spray. Use the product in every room of the house and vacuum well after it dries. Throw out the bag (or clean the canister if bagless) because fleas can live inside. I recommend using a monthly flea preventative. You can purchase Advantage 2 at PetCo. I’ve found this product to be very effective. You can also get a monthly oral flea and heartworm preventative from your veterinarian. I would also vacuum your house often to clean up any that are not on the dog. Get a topical once a month treatment that kills adult fleas AND has an ingredient to make eggs unable to hatch. Something like Frontline or Advtantix are great choices. Vacuum carpet and furniture the dog gets into once daily and wash bedding in hot water. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Fleas are super smart and have developed resistance to a lot of products. In the US we see fleas that are resistant to Frontline. Maybe a little less to Advantix/Advantage. Personally I think the new oral flea and tick preventions are the best: Nexgard and Simparica are monthly and Bravecto is one pill every 3 months. Also the Seresto collar is great and good value for the money, the collar lasts 8 months. These products are not cheap, they cost about $16/dose. But they are prescription from a Vet only. The price is worth the efficacy and it will save you in the long run from trying multiple products, bombing your house, etc plus it will help your dog quicker. Not all preventions are effective, especially ones purchased over the counter. You also need to continue to use the products every 30 days for at least 3 months to stop the flea life cycle. I would stop using the shampoos as that doesn’t kill the fleas for longer than 24 hours and could be making your topical products less effective. Also, treat all the pets in the home even if they aren’t showing signs. Lastly, I would recommend a home treatment spray. I recommend the new oral flea and tick preventatives. I like Nexgard or Simparica which are both monthly or Bravecto which is one pill every 3 months. I also like the Seresto collar which repels the fleas and ticks as well. It also lasts 8 months. The orals listed above will be quicker than the collar.
