Why is my young cat weak, sleepy, no appetite, and has watery eyes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 5 lbs

Hi! My young cat woke up this morning and she's sick. She is very weak, her eyes are watering, little appetite even for her favorite food, and has been sleeping all day. Any ideas on what might be wrong?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These clinical signs are fairly non-specific and can be observed with many conditions. Diseases that can cause weakness, lethargy and inappetence include pancreatitis, foreign body ingestion and obstruction (though vomiting is usually also noted), gastroenteritis, infections, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Hopeful evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics include bloodwork and abdominal imaging. Therapy would be based on findings. Good luck!
