Great question! Drontal is an excellent deworming treatment, and it's safe to use in pregnant cats. You will need to get it from your vet, however, as it's a prescription medication. I hope this helps!

Many deworming products are not recommended once pregnancy is established. Tapeworm medications, in particular, can be quite toxic. If you are concerned that your cat has parasites, I recommend that you take a fecal sample to your veterinarian for examination. Your vet can identify the eggs of any parasites your cat may have using a test called a fecal float exam. S/he can then prescribe the safest, most effective dewormer to use in a pregnant cat for that particular parasite.

Praziquantel, the medication most commonly used to treat tapeworms, is safe to use during pregnancy. I would however recommend consulting a veterinarian before giving any drugs to Stashie to make sure she is healthy enough for the medication. Tapeworms are most commonly transmitted through fleas, so you may want to inspect her for fleas as well.

She can be dewormed with pyrantel pamoate, which is the active ingredient in a number of commercially available dewormers for cats - you'll need to check labels and purchase one that contains pyrantel pamoate as its only active ingredient. The kittens can also be dewormed with the same product at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks of age.

My cat Minhu (she is 11 months old ) she is pregnant with her first litter. I was deworming her before pregnancy and i found out abt her pregnancy so i stopped. She has worms and its been 2 month since she has worms and i didnt deworm bcx of pregnanc
Unfortunately, neither of those options might be safe. We do not have very many safe deworming medications for pregnant animals. The active ingredient in Vermox is Mebenzazole which is considered FDA Pregnancy category C which means that animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus. The active ingredients in Praferan are Pyrantel, Febendal and Praziquantel. We do not have this product in the US available for cats. It is only available for dogs and is listed as NOT being recommended in pregnant dogs. The type of deworming medication recommended really depends on the type of worms that are present, so I think the safest option would be to ask your veterinarian for a recommendation for Minhu and the kittens once they are born. I was told Profender dewormer is safe for pregnant cats and kittens 2 weeks and older. Is this true?
According to their package instructions, Profender is safe to use on pregnant cats before the birth of the kittens, but it cannot be used on kittens until they are 8 weeks of age. Panacur is safe on both pregnant cats and kittens as young as two weeks of age, and you can get that from the vet. I hope this helps!

I recommend getting a stool sample tested by your vet to determine what kind of worms she may have. That way you know the right dewormer to get for what she may have, as there are different parasites that require different treatments. Most dewormers are safe for nursing mothers, but it's best to know what to treat for so you aren't giving her an unnecessary medication.

Feli D tablets seem to contain praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate, both of which should be safe to use in a nursing queen. The kittens are actually old enough to be dewormed as well if necessary, but you may need to use a different product since they are small.

All nursing moms should have at least 2 doses of dewormer 2-3 weeks apart. Worms are passed to kittens while nursing so it is highly likely that all the kittens have worms. The standard recommendation is to deworm all kittens at weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8 with pyrantel pamoate and make sure momma cat is treated as well.

A pregnant dog can be dewormed with certain medications. Drontal AllWormer (praziquantel, pyrantel, febantel) can be used in pregnant dogs. You should treat her and the environment for fleas since they spread tapeworms. You can use Frontline on her and Frontline Spray on the pups. Treat the environment as well by vacuuming everywhere and washing all bedding in the hottest water allowable by fabric. Use an area treatment afterwards to prevent reinfestation.

To my knowledge, there is only one safe (supposedly) flea / tick treatment for pregnant / lactating cats. That is Frontline. I would still read the label carefully and see if the study they did revealed any weird birth defects in large numbers, but it is definitely supposed to be safe.
