My dog is sneezing and coughing but seems fine. Cold or allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 4 months old | 25 lbs

My dog is sneezing periodically, more than normal but not constant, and has an infrequent and slight cough, again more than normal but not constant. This just started within the past few days. Her energy, appetite, attitude are all normal. No discharge or runny nose. She is an extremely active dog and participates in 6 different dog sports so we are competing most weekends at some venue. Could this be a slight cold?

She may have a mild respiratory infection or possibly an allergy to something, especially if there is something new in her environment. Monitor her and if the sneezing or coughing persists or becomes worse than have your vet take a look at her to determine if treatment is needed.
