Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 years and 8 months old | 20 lbs
I just adopted a 9 year old cat 3 days ago and he has been eating less every day. He has not eaten yesterday or today at all. I've tried his normal dry food, fancy feast wet food, warm wet food, and I even gave him a seared salmon filet but he is not interested in any of it. I tried contacting the shelter but they have an event today and will not answer. I am worried he will develop a liver problem as he is a little fat. What do I do? I do not have hundreds to spend on a vet.

You are correct to be concerned that Spencer could develop a liver problem due to not eating. You have tried a lot at home to get him to eat, and because it's not working, he should see a vet. If the shelter is having an event today, you can try driving by there to see if you can get help from them, or you can take him into a vet yourself. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html?credit=web_id91754962 https://www.redrover.org https://www.carecredit.com
