My dog jumps and runs a lot. Is it serious? What to do until vet?

Doctor Jennifer. She does like to jump around and run a lot. Is it something serious? I'm really worried about her. Until I take her to the vet what should I do?

I hope that it's nothing serious! If Bella is eating and drinking normally, and willing to get up and walk around to go to the bathroom and do other normal things, then it's probably not a life-threatening problem. If she won't eat, or if she won't (or can't) get up at all, I would be much more concerned. Until to can take her to the vet, I would recommend keeping her comfortable and restricting her exercise as much as possible - just short leash walks outside to potty, no running or jumping since these can make things worse. There are no over-the-counter pain medications that are safe to use in dogs, so I wouldn't give her any medication until she sees the vet - he/she can prescribe something to make her more comfortable that will be safe and effective.
