Why is my dog droopy, drooling, hacking, and not eating much?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 55 lbs

My 3-year old Boxer has been droopy all day. She has been drooling a little and has an occasional hack (not vomit). She hasn't eaten much today. She has, however, had spurts of energy but she is definitely not herself. Thoughts? Thank you!!

Drooling can be a sign of nausea, which may be why she hasn't eaten as much today. I would keep an eye on her for now, as she may have just eaten something that has upset her stomach. Given that she isn't vomiting or having diarrhea, it's ok to monitor her. If she is still lethargic and not eating as much tomorrow, or develops vomiting or diarrhea, then I would take her into the vet for an exam.
