What to do if my dog has diarrhea and smelly gas after boarding?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years and 2 months old | 17 lbs

My 2 1/2 yo chihuahua mix came back from vet’s(boarding) with diarrhea and bad smelling gas. What do I do?

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would recommend withholding food this evening (she can have water) and beginning tomorrow morning with a small amount of boiled chicken and rice with plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) for a day or two. If the diarrhea continues or gets worse, I would recommend Penny see her veterinarian. Be sure to bring a fecal sample with you in case the veterinarian would need to test her stool for parasites or bacterial/viral infection she may have contracted at the boarding facility.
