My dog is panting, peeing, restless, and has red eyes. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 months and 14 days old | 60 lbs

My 9 month husky/shepherd has been panting, frequently peeing, and totally restless for 48 hours. Her eyes are so red, and every time I look at her I just go kiss her and say "oh my Shadow" because she seems so off it's sad to see her like that.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Shadow. Increasing frequency of urination can be caused by a few things but the most common is a urinary tract infection. With the panting, that could be pain/discomfort or infection, urinary crystals, urinary stones, kidney problems, etc. I would advise taking her to your vet and give them a detailed history. They can perform an exam and then advise you on diagnostics/treatment. A minimum database for this might be blood/urine tests and maybe even x-rays/ultrasound to evaluate the urinary system. Once a diagnosis is made, a sound treatment plan can be implemented. Good luck
