My almost 4 yr old Standard Poodle has been bleeding, though not heavily, for almost a week now. She had a full heavy heart in early April, right after we introduced our male pup into the home, but he was to young to do anything about it lol. In August, she appeared to go into heat again, bleeding for only one day. Our vet referred to that as a "false heat" most likely to the rise in testosterone when the puppy's testes finally dropped. However, this seems to be a limbo place. He isn't intereste

It could be that Gypsy is in heat, given that her last true one was in April. It would be the right time for her to go into heat again. The puppy may not be interested in her because he hasn't reached sexual maturity yet. It could also be a sign of a pyometra. This is when the uterus becomes infected, and this is life threatening. Leaving a pyometra untreated is fatal, so the best thing to do it take her into a vet right away. The vet can diagnose if she is experiencing a true heat or if she has a pyometra. If she does have a pyometra, spaying her is part of the recommended treatment. Good luck, I hope this helps!
