My Boston terrier has mast cell tumors & declining. Euthanasia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

We have an eight-year-old Boston terrier who has had one mast cell removal in the past month and now he has two more tumors a very snotty nose and is throwing up, not really able to keep anything down We know that we can’t afford to keep having the tumors removed seems to me like he doesn’t feel very good should we put him down now or later it’s gone downhill fast like the past week

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog! Unfortunately, mast cell tumors do not have a good prognosis as they prone to spreading and some of them can release histamine, a hormone which is responsible for allergy-like reactions. It is definitely concerning that your dog is unable to keep food down and has additional tumors. While surgery is an option, there are some medications that your vet can prescribe to make your dog more comfortable. You may have some difficult decisions to make about his future, but it is important to consider his quality of life and overall condition. I'm happy to answer any additional questions you may have or address any concerns.
