My adopted cat threw up a worm. Can I buy OTC dewormer at a store?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 lbs

Hi I adopted a stray cat about a month ago. He had no signs of being sick he was just very skinny and hungry. He has not had worms in his poop but today he threw up and a 3-4 inch white worm was in his throw up. I do not get paid until Friday and I was wondering if there is anything I can buy at a store to get rid of the worms

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are many safe over-the-counter worm products in the united states. You will have to check at your local store what is available, however what you are describing sounds like a round worm. This often looks like spaghetti. I suggest you look up 'round work' on the internet and if this looks like the type of worm it is, make sure you get a product that covers round worms. Most routine dewormers will for cats. The other common type of worm are tape-worms that have little segments. Milbemax is a good broad-spectrum dewormer. Best of luck with Metro.
