My three-year-old male cat has watery diarrhea. He hasn't eaten anything different than his usual food what could I give him?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Oswald! There are no safe human medications that you can give cats. Sadly cats are extremely sensitive to human drugs and they just are not safe. Causes of diarrhea in cats: intestinal parasites, viral, bacterial or protazoal infections, food allergy or intolerance, toxin ingestion, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis. Sometimes we never determine the cause. If the diarrhea has been going on for several days and is severe then I would fast him for 12-24 hours then resume feeding. I would drop off a stool sample at your Vet. You can order Purina Fortiflora (probiotic) online or ask if your Vet if they can sell it to you. But if the diarrhea continues or Oswald stops eating and/or starts vomiting he needs to see a Vet for medications. I hope this helps and I wish Oswals a speedy recovery!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Harry! Unfortunately when it comes to sick cats at home remedies are not usually an option like it can be for dogs due to their dietary restrictions, unwillingness to eat home cooked bland diet and their sensitivities to medications. If you know what triggered the diarrhea then you can start with that. The only options for at home are to deworm him and start a probiotic (I like Purina Fortiflora). Otherwise he should see your Vet for a special commercial bland diet and medications. Bring a stool sample to check for parasites. Causes of diarrhea are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, pancreatitis, food allergy/intolerance, reaction to a new food, treat or human food. Do not give your cat human medications without talking to your Vet. I wish harry the best!
