Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 74 lbs
Hello, I wanted advice on what treatment to get my dog who has arthritis. She is 8 years old, roughly 33 kilograms and a golden retriever. I wanted to know how regularly I should walk her. Sometimes she just stops and won't go any further. And I also wanted advice on how to otherwise treat it. What medication, massages etc. I have researched but have been getting conflicting advice. We are also unable to pay very much for the medication, and I know we should pay whatever but we simply can't.

They make setvrak over the counter and prescription medicines you can try to help. The first is a glucosamine and chondrotin supplement you can get at any pet store. In addition make sure she is not over weight. A lean body mass is easier in the joints. Exercise is great to keep her moving so she will not get stiff but is a double edged sword... too much can leave her tired and sore the next day. Instead of long walks where she tires, just use short frequent ones instead. If you have access to a place to let swim that is great exercise while being low impact on the joints Your vet has 4-5 different combinations of medicines that they can prescribe to help with arthritis, some are very in expensive (tramadol, meloxicam, gabapentin)! It is worth having then do an exam and seeing what your options are
