Why did my dog throw up brown stuff after eating food scraps?

Hello, my dog was sleeping on the couch and when he woke up he threw up brown stuff.I don't know why but he did eat food scraps yesterday like fruit and a little piece of meat. Could that be the reason? Did he eat too much food?? Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | 4 months and 18 days old | 10 lbs

There are many possible causes for vomiting but yes, eating large volumes or new foods can sometimes trigger it. If he is otherwise well continue to monitor and feed a bland, low fat diet for the next 36hours before reintroducing his normal food. If he is tired, weak or persistently vomiting you should have him checked by your vet to rule out fever, infections, parasites or a bowel obstruction
