Mel is about 6 years old and has had chronic low white cell counts, along with other abnormalities. He has to go for a bone marrow test this upcoming Friday. What can I expect after the procedure and for his recovery?

A bone marrow biopsy is quite a painful procedure and it is likely he will need some pain medication for a few days afterwards and he may be a little uncomfortable; given the low white cont he may also be at higher risk for infection and this will need to be monitored closely. The long term prognosis will be dependent on the findings of the biopsy
