My dog has face spots, look like hot spots, no itching. Vet or home remedy?

My dog has some spots on her face. They look like hot spots but she doesn’t scratch or rub the area. Wondering if she needs to get to the vet or if there is a homeopathic solution I could use at home.

From the pictures, it doesn't look like hot spots to me, but without seeing Nala in person, I can't say for certain. Given I can't diagnose her via the internet, I think it's best that she does see a vet for them. The vet can diagnose what is causing them and what treatment is needed. If there is a homeopathic solution for them, the vet can suggest that as well. Good luck, I hope this helps!

It is unusual for dogs to have hot spots on their elbows, but this may be a local skin infection caused by a bacteria or fungus. It may also be a sign of food allergies, flea allergies, or allergies to something in the environment. There are also several hormonal and nutritional imbalances that can cause these symptoms. I recommend having Nala seen by a vet, you may want to bring her to a different vet this time for a second opinion. The vet can take some small samples from the skin, or biopsies, to determine what is going on and start her on the appropriate treatment. I hope this helps!

What is this on my dogs leg? She doesn’t feel any pain.
Those spots on Nala could be several things including fleas, allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection, ringworm (which humans can get) or endocrine disease. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesions once a day (not her whole body, just the lesions). Also protect the area from trauma by having your pup wear an elizabethan collar at all times. If the lesions do not start improving within a week or if they are getting worse, have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi my dog has sore all over her body a few of them are scabbing, I'm not sure what the cause is and what can be done to fix it. She does bite and scratch her fur sometimes
It could be that Nala is scratching her skin causing these sores. This scratching can be caused by fleas, mites, ringworm, or allergies. If she isn't up to date on her flea treatment, she will need a spot on treatment such as Advantage or Revolution. You will need to disinfect the environment as well. If she is up to date on her flea treatment, I recommend taking her into the vet for an exam tomorrow. The vet can do blood tests, skin scrapings, and use a Wood's lamp to diagnose allergies, mites, and ringworm. Once the cause of the scratching is found, the vet can prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Unfortunately, a diagnosis would require a hands on physical exam. It may be hot spots or a different skin infection. Your veterinarian will be able to make the determination as well as provide the appropriate treatment after an exam. Use an e-collar (cone) to prevent Sheeba from licking excessively until she sees the doctor.

Hi I’m dog has brownish dots on her pubic area. She licks a lot down there. It doesn’t look like mange or comedones as far as I can tell. Sos
The brown spots look a bit like flea dirt. If Nala isn’t already in a good-quality monthly flea preventative, then fleas are probably the cause. The red spots look like the start of a pyoderma. you can try a medicated shampoo like the one I can link below, but if it isn’t showing signs of improvement in a week or so, she should get checked out by a vet. If she is licking, then she needs to wear an e-collar until it is resolved. Skin lesion she has had for a couple years. Just lately got bigger. Putting various anti fungals, benzoyl peroxide and hydrogen peroxide on it over last few months. What is it? Can I treat it naturally ? Vets in San Diego charge $500 just to look at
It looks like your dog has acute moist dermatitis with an infection. I think your dog needs prescription medications to treat the problem, including an oral antibiotic. I don't think topical or natural treatments are going to be enough so please call a vet and schedule an exam. You could call around to a few different vets and get an estimate to treat a skin infection/hot spot.

My dog has red weeping sores on her face
I am sorry to hear about Lexi. While it is impossible to provide a diagnosis from a photo, it looks like Lexi could be suffering from acute moist pyoderma, also known as a "hot spot". I would recommend a visit to your vet. They can shave the area with clippers, clean the skin and may prescribe either topical treatment such as a medicated shampoo or spray, or oral antibiotics/anti-inflammatory medication.

My dog has some spots on her legs and chest and now has an open sore on her head that looks very bad. I don't want to pay a vet bill
These look like hot spot areas that are often caused by some sort of trauma to the skin or fleas. I would suggest a high quality flea preventative such as Nexgard, Comfortis, Simparica or you can try OTC Advantix. However the hot spot areas may need a vet visit to resolve. You can try an over the counter hot spot spray from your local pet store. My dog looks like she has hotspots. I tried bathing her in shampoo that specializes in hotspots, but it looks like it is getting worse. What should I do?
A lot of skin conditions can look like hot spots, bacterial skin infection, ringworm, even mite infections, and allergies, flea bites and other itchy lesions. each on of these is treated with a different medication or avoidance of allergens, etc. Therefore it is very important to have a correct diagnosis, ie know what is causing the hot spot so the proper treatment can be initiated. I strongly recommend you schedule an appointment with your veterinarian for an exam of the hot spots. Your vet may want to do a skin scraping or a take a swab or brush sample to help determine the cause and then specifically address the problem.
