Kitten not waking up after spay surgery, sent home. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2.5 lbs

I took my five month old kitten into gets paid. She never woke up it's been 20 hours. The vet just let me bring her home and she's in a coma like state. He wanted to keep charging me money I don't have anymore money. I spent $400 to get my cat spayed and instead I got a cat that's in a coma-like state and now I have her at home because that that was obviously useless and doesn't know what to do with her so you just send her home. I wanted some advice cuz I don't know what to do with her

Poor Daisy, she sounds like she's having a hard time clearing the anesthetic from her system. Intravenous fluids and supportive care may help but would require hospitalisation. She should not go without fluids for 24hours or more as this will further reduce her ability to recover and may affect kidney function
