Why are my active indoor/outdoor cats having bloody, mucousy diarrhea?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 3 lbs

I have 9 inside/outside cats. Few are strays that have showed up n never left. No new ones in past year. Recently I've notice a few of em having diarrhea. Couple days ago it became loose like if they jump down from somewhere sometimes they'll drip poop. They are still very active and eat n drink good. Today I noticed it's mucousy appears to have possible blood in it. Ages vary from 6 months to 2 years.

It's probably a contagious gastrointestinal infection, it could also be intestinal parasites. this will require treating them with antibiotics and deworming, you should contact your vet regarding this issue hopping he will prescribe those medications for all of them.
