My puppy's 4th vaccine: Is 15 weeks too early or is 16 weeks required?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 19 days old | 32.2 lbs

My puppy was given a shot at 8 weeks and 12 weeks after coming home. This was her 2nd and 3rd shots. Can her 4th be given at 15 weeks (and effective) or does it have to be 16 weeks?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Ideally vaccines are given 3-4 weeks apart. Depending on which vaccines they were and what the vaccine manufactured label says, it is safe to have the vaccines given at 15 weeks. The Rabies vaccine is usually given around 16 weeks but every state law is different with when that vaccine is given. Sometimes, we will recommend the vaccines to be finished at 16 weeks to comply with the law and to group the vaccines into one visit. I hope this helps! Kisses to Zipper!
