Hi, my Staffy, Loka, has hurt her rear right leg. She was running after a stick when she let out a loud yelp and began limping straight away. I couldn't find any prickles or wound on her leg or foot. This was about 24 hours ago. She is now not putting any weight at all on on the leg, and just hopping when she walks. She dosent seem to be in pain (not whimpering/crying/yelping if I touch her leg), be seems very uncomfortable. Does this need urgent medical attention? She is booked in tomorrow arvo

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Based on your description and her age, it is highly possible that she injured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The vet can examine her knee more closely to help confirm this suspected diagnosis. It is possible this may be just a strain or sprain and will heal with adequate rest. If it is an ALL injury, this will likely need surgical stabilization. Your vet can go over these options with you at the time of the exam. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I am also available via consultation if needed.
