Why is my cat throwing up yellow-green liquid and acting sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 2 months old | 22 lbs

I noticed that there is something wrong with my male cat. He has been a little distant but it is probably because we just adopted a dog. Two weeks ago, he drank a good amount of water, but then threw it all up later. It had a spit type of consistancy. Now today, he's been acting strange, making little meows to himself, not wanting anyone to touch him. A few hours later, he threw up a yellowish green liquid and he now laying down on his back behind one of the couches. What might this be? Thanks.

Hello. The color of the vomit is very strange, it looks like he may have eaten something he shouldn’t have. Vomiting that continues like it has in his case, plus the change in behavior are signs of illness. I would recommend having your vet check him out. He could have an infection or a blockage and your vet can check and get him the treatment he needs to feel better. Best wishes to you and Gize.
