Puppy sick: vomiting, diarrhea, worms, unsteady. What to do until vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 12 days old

I just got a new puppy and she was fine but today she seems lethargic, no appetite, has thrown up a couple times and just had diarrhea with what looked like stringy worms. She also seems unsteady when walking. Is there something i can do until i can get her to the vet in the morning

I am pretty concerned for Princess. It might be that she is weak from her intestinal worms which can cause significant damage in her intestinal tract. She may also be haboring a virus like parvo or another type of parasite like Giardia or Coccidia (which are microscopic). You can try giving her some sugar mixed in water by mouth. If possible though I do recommend you take her to the ER vet, for testing and treatment. This is more urgent if she seems to be getting weaker or still will not eat her puppy food.
