Why is my male cat peeing outside, meowing, and acting painful?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 7 lbs

My male cat has been standing still and meowing here and there and has been urinating outside of his litter box I thought it was cause he doesn't like a dirty litter box. I changed it and he still has been acting weird he seems to be hurting he gets upset when you touch his stomach area and is acting a lil slow n lazy.

Oh no. I would highly recommend taking Ziggy in to your local vet right away. He could either have a severe urinary tract infection or he could be blocked (unable to urinate). He needs treatment quickly for either of these conditions before he gets any sicker. A painful kitty is usually a really sick kitty and should be treated right away. I hope that your pet Ziggy is able to make a full and speedy recovery. Best wishes and take care.
