My dog keeps vomiting, losing weight, and vets have no answers.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 11 months and 18 days old | 61 lbs

My dog (11mo) has been vomiting up to 4x daily for the past month. We’ve taken him to the vet multiple times. He’s had X-rays, blood work, etc. no answers. We put him on a bland diet for a week, per the vet, and he didn’t vomit for about 3 days and then started back up again. My vet told me I was under feeding him as he was underweight. He’s underweight because he won’t stop vomiting. I was told he’s fine and to continue feeding regular dog food. He’s not improving and i’m at a loss.

I would seek out someone that can do an ultrasound to measure the intestinal thickness and check the inside of organs, further testing if pancreas and liver and talk about a prescription hypoallergenic diet. This can be a single carb and single protein such as rabbit and potato from royal canin with no other foods. I would start with anal frequent meals so he can't over eat and make himself sick until he builds weight back. You may need to find an internal medicine specialist also. I would do a therapeutic dewormer with fenbendazole.
