I got a puppy who is about 8 weeks old yesterday and his poop started out fine but then this morning it was diarrhea with mucus with spots of blood. It then turned into mostly mucus with spots of blood. Could it be because he switch food from the breeder?

Hi there! Yes, quickly transitions to a new food can cause gastrointestinal upset which can present as diarrhea with mucous or even a bit of blood in the stool. Other causes may be intestinal parasites which are common in puppies. I would recommend adding plain canned pumpkin to his food to help firm up his stool and take a fecal sample to your veterinarian for testing soon. I hope this helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
