My dog has a hard grey lump on her backside. Is a vet visit needed?

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 70 lbs

My dog has a knot on her on her backside where she sits not quite on her rear it's hard and grey like her skin color there no spots to determine a bug bite she is walking curled up a little bit. I'm really thinking a vet visit is in need.

Yes, I agree with you that a vet visit is needed for Diamond. This bump is likely painful to her if it affects her walking. I would rest her tonight and take her into the vet first thing in the morning. I hope this helps!

Diamond needs to be examined by the veterinarian today. This could be a cyst, an abscess or a necrotic tumor. It looks like it could be infected whatever the cause. If it is a cyst or tumor, it will need to be removed. If it is an abscess, it will need a drain. It probably does hurt. She needs an exam, possible diagnostics, medications to address and infection (if present) and pain. She also needs an elizabethan collar so she cannot lick the area. I hope they figure out the cause quickly.

Daisy sure is cute!! So sorry she is having this issue. That looks like an open wound that is oozing. The lump could be an abscess or cyst that has ruptured. I would not consider this an emergency but I would try to take her in for an exam during your vet's regular business hours. It is very hard for me to tell much without seeing her in person. I’m curious to what this lump on my pup could be , I jus notice it today . It does feel hard . But she does bite in the are a lot . should I take her to the vet? Looks like it’s on the top of her back leg bone .
This lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature. Differentials would include skin cysts, infections, benign or more malignant type of tumors. Hi i have a english bullmasiff and ive just noticed this on her back leg, above the pad, i need to know if its urgent for vet help or not etc
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This may even be an abscess. While this should be evaluated, this is not considered an emergency. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. I'm babysitting my son's dog and he has this lesion on his but can you tell me what it is and what should be done about it please thank you
Ouch that looks uncomfortable. That looks like a mass of some sort. Rocky needs to go to the vet to have that looked at and sampled. The vet may want to do a round of antibiotics first before sampling it because it looks like it could be infected. This isn't an emergency, but I would want him to get to the vet within the week.

I just notice my dog has a large lump on her bum. does not Hurt her she acting normal. Just want to know if I should take her to the emergency vet right away or not. Looks like a cyst to me feel watery.
Oh that is quite a large bump! I'm wondering if it could be a cyst, or if her anal sac is impacted. Because it's that large and I'm concerned it could rupture, I would have Frida seen by a vet immediately. Best of luck.

My dog has a strange mass on his hindend. It wasn't there before and I'm not sure if he got bit by something or if I should be concerned. It seems to be a hard mass. I marked it to keep track of it, but I'm unsure if I need to take him to the vet as
It would help to know whether this mass is next to the anus or on the thigh. If it is next to the anus, it could be an impacted or infected anal sac, Your veterinarian can easily empty that, and in case of an infection, flush it and infuse it with an antibiotic. If the mass is in muscle, for example your dog's thigh, then this should also be seen by your vet who will try to determine whether it is a cyst or abscess or a tumor. Your vet would likely do an FNA, a fine needle aspirate, where he will harvest material from the mass. This material is then examined and will help determine whether the mass is malignant or benign. I would suggest you observe it and if it is not gone by Wednesday, you take your dog to a veterinarian for an exam. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. Poor Roxy! This could be a cyst, it could be a skin infection, or it could be from allergies. Because she keeps licking and biting it, that tells me it's bothering her, so yes she should see the vet. I would take her to the vet this week. I hope this helps!

Just noticed this on my dog’s hind left leg. She is about 5 years old. It’s past 10pm and everywhere is closed and I feel terrible I didn’t notice this earlier. Any advice or comments? Will definitely take her to the vet asap but need something to go
Ouch! Definitely something that should be checked out by your regular vet ASAP. Certain types of tumors such as mast cell tumors, hemangiomas, injuries, blood blisters, etc can all appear like this, and so it should be looked at and biopsied to see what is going on. Until you can get to your vet in the morning, keeping Berkeley from licking or chewing on the spot with an Elizabethan (cone) collar is best to reduce any further injury or irritation.
