Why is my senior dog's stomach making loud noises and passing gas?

My dog is old and frail and his stomach is making extremely loud noises which I can hear from the other side of my room, with the tv on. He is also passing a lot air should I be worried?

It sounds like Cokey may be experiencing some gas, and his stomach could be upset. I recommend trying a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days to see if that helps. If that doesn't help with his gas or he develops other signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, or extreme lethargy, I would take him into the vet. I hope this helps!

These signs could be compatible with a colitis, which is an inflammation of the last part of the intestine, the colon, usually related to dietary indiscretion. As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. My senior toy poodle tummy is making gurgling sounds. He won't eat. What should I do? Not throwing up or loose stool. Thank you.
I am very sorry to hear that Mr Dolly isn't himself. I would try to tempt him to eat with boiled boneless chicken breast and white rice. This diet is bland and easily digested in case he has a gastrointestinal concern brewing, but also highly palatable. It is okay for a dog to fast for many hours, and is often their instinct when their gastrointestinal tract is upset. If Mr. Dolly continues to refuse to eat, starts to vomit or have diarrhoea, you notice any blood, he is lethargic or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian.

I've noticed that my one-year-old beagle throws a lot of flatulence and his stomach sounds very loud. What can be?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I recommend taking Poli to the vet with a fresh stool sample to rule out intestinal parasites and other health concerns. If negative, I would recommend changing her diet to something less rich. In the US, I recommend Science Diet or Purina One Smartblend. There may be something in her current diet that is affecting her GI tract so she may need something new. Good luck and kisses to Poli!

Poor Foster! I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps him. Withhold food for 12 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck.

Hello, and thank you for your question. Mojo's symptoms may be indicative of gastroenteritis (a gut infection), gastrointestinal parasites, food intolerance or food allergies, pancreatitis, or inflammatory bowel disease. As you can see, the list of possibilities is long and varied. I would recommend taking him to the vet. They can perform a full physical exam and assess for any areas of pain, which would be supportive of pancreatitis (for example). They may recommend testing a stool sample for parasites, senior blood work, and/or taking x-rays of the abdomen. At minimum, they can prescribe medicine to help with the tummy upset and improve his comfort. In the meantime, I would continue with the probiotic, and try small, frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and white rice. This may be easier for his tummy to digest. I would also think back to any new food or treats that were introduced prior to this problem starting, and if so, make sure to eliminate them in case they a

There are many things that can cause similar GI signs and I would recommend feeding an ultra low fay, highly digestible diet such as royal canin gastro low fat or hills i/d low fat for 6 weeks to see if this helps improve his symptoms. The stomach and bowel lining can become damaged after such an extreme insult and poor digestion or food sensitivities can lead to discomfort after eating or low grade pancreatitis can give recurrent abdominal colic

My 10 year old dog hasn’t been acting like himself lately. He pooped on the upstairs carpet (diarrhea) and keeps on passing gas that is extremely smelly. Our vet is not around right now and I’m not quite sure of what to do! Please help!!
It sounds like Ty has an upset stomach. I recommend calling your veterinarian tomorrow morning and seeing if they can see Ty. In the mean time I recommend making sure Ty doesn't get anything but a bland diet (you can do boiled chicken and white rice). As long as he is not vomiting, there is no blood and he is not over lethargic then it is ok to wait until tomorrow to have her seen. It could be Prince has an upset stomach. I'd feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts a couple of times a day for a few days. He might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 12 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If the symptoms do not resolve, take him to the vet to get treatment.
