Why does my cat act painful or aggressive, then seem normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 11 months old

My cat seems like she's in pain when I go near her to try and touch her she meows at me but if I carry on trying to stroke her she will hiss at me or claw me she hides from me sometimes too but then 15 min later she will be running around and be fine or she'll be fast asleep doing normal stuff she's had a few episodes like this in the past couple of month's, I don't know if it's anything to worry about or not.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cats are finicky creatures. If Kekr is eating, jumping around like a young cat should and not vomiting then I don't think you should worry. Most cats really only like to be scratched around the head, unless you find the rare "dog" like cat that like belly and back scratches. Just like people cats come in a variety of personalities. I recommend leaving her be when she has these moments of being grumpy. I hope this helps!
