My cat is lethargic. Is it from a spoon used for garlic ramen?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 7 years and 9 months old | 9 lbs

I have an average sized cat, about 9-10lbs, and was afraid that using a spoon to scoop her food that had previously been used for ramen noodle soup the day before and dried (contains onion/garlic powders in the flavoring) and she appears to be lethargic and not herself. Is it possible it's related to using the spoon since it's only been about 2 hours since she ate the food that used it

I'm sorry that Boo isn't feeling well! No, I don't believe that this could have been caused by the spoon - while it's true that garlic and onions can be toxic to cats, she would have needed to eat a fairly large amount of these things to cause any problems. Dried residue from your soup the day before would not contain nearly enough garlic or onions to cause any toxicity issues. If she continues to act lethargic and not herself, I would recommend taking her to your vet for a check-up to see what might be causing her to not feel well. She may need blood work or other testing to help diagnose the problem.
