Pet's info: Dog | BullBoxer | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 7 days old
My puppy won’t eat, play and was trying to throw up (just the movement) but didn’t throw up anything. it’s not parvo I went to the vet yesterday and it was tested negative also fecal. We’ve gave him pedialyte and baby food (as they suggested) what do you think is wrong? I’ve had my puppy since birth since my dog got pregnant due to a dog jumping our fence. His other litter mates are fine. It’s just him and his brother who needed fluids they doctor said.

Your puppy may have a virus (other than parvo) or may have eaten something he shouldn’t have that is causing a blockage in his intestines. Intestinal parasites can also cause these symptoms and even though the fecal test was negative I would recommend deworming him if you haven’t already. Your puppy may just need supportive care, like fluids and nausea medication, to help get him through this illness. Sometimes the exact cause of the illness is never determined but the pup recovers just fine. If your puppy continues to dry heave (tries to vomit with nothing coming up) you may need to take him back to the vet. Occasionally these puppies need hospitalization to help get them through. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
