Why does my cat have wet fur and red, weeping sores on her back?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

We’ve just noticed a patch of fur on our cats back that looked wet,on closer inspection we found 6 red/pink sores and the wet look fur was from the sores that were weeping. She is a house cat. I just wondered if you could help us identify what they could be? Many thanks

It looks like she may have a skin infection. Hard to know what exactly started it. Could something hot have dripped on her? She may need some antibiotics. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian. I hope she improves quickly!

Hello. It looks like Millie might have a bacterial infection on her skin. She could have injured herself, or be allergic to something. It would b good to have your vet see her, she likely needs antibiotics and have the hair clipped. Best of luck!
