How long to introduce a new kitten to an older cat when flying?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 2 days old | 2.6 lbs

I recently adopted a female ragdoll kitten in early September and plan on bringing her home with me when I will travel back home for a month over the summer. The only problem is, my parents already have a large male cat and we are unsure of how he will react to my kitten. My question is, would it be better for me to bring her home with me for Thanksgiving (for a week) to introduce them or to wait until summer when I have a month to get them acquainted? This would also involve flying

Personally I wouldn't put Channel through the flight for the sake of one week. If they don't get on one week is not going to make any real difference, and you would likely be at square one in the Summer. They will hopefully get on, but you will need to make sure that one or both is neutered to avoid kittens!
