My cat hasn't pooped after travel. Is she constipated? Home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year old

My cat hasn't pooped since 6:30pm Sunday evening (October 9th). She's eating and drinking and going pee and playing but hasn't scratched her post though. We got back from travelling (within the country) on Monday night. We flew in an airplane (return trip) and she was fine. Good traveller. She's not lethargic as she's walking around and exploring. I'm wondering if she's constipated? Is there anything I can do to help her from home? I live In an isolated community. Should I be concerned?

I am sorry to hear about Piper. I would check around the home and be sure there isn't a location she is using to have bowel movements (sometimes the stress of travel may cause accidents outside the litterbox). If you do not find any and she has been eating normally it is possible she is constipated. If she is still energetic/nonpainful/not vomiting then you could try picking up a hairball laxative at the pet store such as this: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/tomlyn-laxatone-tuna-flavored-hairball-lubricant If she doesn't produce a bowel movement within a day or two or starts acting lethargic/painful/vomits, or stops eating, then seek veterinary care.
