My dog got food in his eye and is squinting. What should I do now?

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 16 days old | 3 lbs

My dog is saringe fed so when I was feeding him some of the food got in his eye and I got the food out but he's squinting a little more then the other eye is there anything I can do to help it?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Focal irritation to the eye can cause a defect on the cornea, leading to eye irritation. I would recommend flushing your dog’s eye out with plain saline eye rinse (not anything like visine!) and then monitoring the eye. If it is red, has discharge, or he’s holding it closed, it could indicate a corneal scratch, which could be diagnosed and treated by your veterinarian. Good luck!
