My cat licked spay stitches open. Should I be worried about infection?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old

My cats were spayed 6 days ago and 2 of them licked the stitches of... should I be worried? The wound are kind of open... I don’t know what to do or to think!!! Thanks!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There could be an infection developing or even inflammation that will make healing more difficult. I recommend having them evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment which will likely include the use of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications.
