Which kitten breed is high energy, good with kids, and dog-like?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9999 lbs

I am thinking about adopting a kitten, and would like one that is high energy, good with kids, and is a bit dog - like. Is there a breed like that?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I personally think Ragdolls make great family pets. I can't say they are high energy per se but they act like dogs and are good with kids. I's put Bengals in the high energy category! I hope this helps and good luck!

    Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Size-wise, you might want to consider a Maine Coon, but they may be hard to find through adoption. I would just take my time visiting as many shelters & cat rescues that you can. You want to hold & play with a kitten in a quiet area to try & ascertain their temperament. Check to see if the are easy to catch & hold, or do they hide & struggle to get away. Gently hold the kitten down on the floor while it is on its back. Is it calm, or does it struggle to get away. Place the kitten upside down in the crook of your arm & see how relaxed it is. When, & if it does play with you, is it relatively gentle with teeth & claws? There are no quarentees, but a wild, undisciplined kitten may turn out to be a wild, unpredictable cat. Good luck with your new adoptee. Not all of the cats I have adopted have been angels, but they have all been treasured members of my family. Take care.
