My dog has fleas after treatment. Can I apply Advantage II now?

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | neutered | 4 years old | 33 lbs

we went on vacation to clean city Maryland and my dog came home with fleas. we applied his parastar plus 15 days ago and we are still finding live fleas on him. we purchased advantage II, can we put it on him now or wait another 15 days?

Great question! Because 15 days have passed, it's fine to give Roman the Advantage II. I would also give him Capstar. It's a one time pill that is safe to give now and will start killing fleas in 30 minutes. Remember as well you need to disinfect the environment, as the environment can be a continuing source of fleas. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I hope this helps :-)

Since it's been two weeks since you late applied the Advantage, you can try another dose of it. He can also have Capstar again. Be sure to disinfect your home, as that will be a continuing source of fleas. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. We treated our 2 cats with a generic Advantage 2 a week ago. We just received our Revolution in the mail. How soon can we apply the Revolution for their flea infestation? They're 5lbs, and 6lbs. 5 mos old.
Great question! According to the package insert for Advantage 2, you can safely reapply once every two weeks, so it would be fine to give them the Revolution now. You can also give them Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes and is safe to give with the Revolution. Don't forget you will need to disinfect the environment as well. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. Are used frontline plus on my dog about two weeks ago, but is not working to get rid of fleas on the dog. I purchased K9 Advantix two and would like to know if it’s safe to apply it to my dog now?

I gave my dog Frontline Tritax 3 days ago. We believe it was expired. My dog is still covered with fleas. Can I treat her with K9 Advantix 2?
It's too soon to repeat a spot on flea treatment. You have to wait at least two weeks between them. You can give Lyra Capstar now. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes, and it's safe to use. Keep in mind as well that fleas live in the environment, not on the animal, so you need to disinfect your home as well. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. I used advantage 2 on my dog 11 days ago but had to bathed him in dish soap and white vinegar 4 days ago bc he still had a lot of fleas. Can I reapply the advantage?
I would recommend to alternate between two different type of flea product every 14 days. Some give advantage then 14 days later give another product then repeat the advantage another 14 days later and so on. I would try an oral flea preventative like comfortis (as long as no history of seizure and not currently on ivermectin for mange treatment) or nexgard. you can talk to your vet about other types of flea preventive too that they recommend if they don’t carry these. Also make sure you treat the house and yard for fleas as fleas live in the environment not on the dog. I hope this helps!

You can actually give them at the same time, they are completely different products that work in different ways. I also recommend you use a good household flea fogger and vacuum EVERYWHERE! Even hard floors. Wash the dogs bedding on a hot wash, and your bedding if they sleep with you. If you're still finding fleas after a week, you should get a better product from your vet - I recommend Simparica or Comfortis/ Trifexis.

We found fleas on both dogs. I gave them frontline yesterday. Two hours after I gave that my wife gave them a bath. Should I reapply flea killer?
Dogs are not supposed to get wet for at least 24 hours after application of a topical flea medication, and more than likely it was washed off during the bath. You can reapply the flea treatment, and I would give them Capstar given you have seen fleas. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes, and it's safe to be given at the same time as the spot on treatment. Just as a note, I would not recommend using Frontline. In my experience (and from the experience of many colleagues), there is a resistance to Frontline, and you may not get the best results from it. I recommend using Advantage or Revolution instead. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home.
