My dog mated with a 5-month-old puppy. Is she pregnant? Belly hard.

My female dog mated with a male 5 month old puppy in august during heat. Is there any chance that she could be pregnant since her belly is getting harder and she keeps humping the male dog?

While male dogs typically do not become sexually mature until at least six to seven months of age, it could be possible that Gizzy is pregnant from this puppy if he became sexually mature early and she was in heat. If she did become pregnant in August, depending on when she mated, she would be pretty far along in her pregnancy (a dog's pregnancy is 58-68). I would have her seen by a vet first thing Monday to diagnose if she is pregnant or not.

It's possible that Lily could be pregnant, but if she was first mated three and a half weeks ago, it would still be early for her to show signs such as an enlarged belly. If she won't let him mate anymore, then she is out of heat. I would take Lily into the vet. The vet can do a blood test to look for a hormone called relaxin that occurs when a dog is pregnant. If this hormone is found in her blood, then she is pregnant. I do not recommend mating her again after this. Female dogs should never be bred past the age of seven. This is because after this age, pregnancy is very hard on the dog's body and there is an increased risk of complications from it. If she is currently pregnant, I recommend having her spayed after she weans her litter. Should she not be pregnant, I recommend having her spayed as soon as possible. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Typical gestation length for dogs is 58-68 days. If she mated with a male dog on October 20, she would be about 40 days pregnant at this point in time. This is still a little early to potentially see puppies moving when she rested. That would occur around 49-57 days of pregnancy. Every dog is different, and some will show more than others, but she still has time for her belly to grow larger. I would take her into the vet for an exam tomorrow. The vet can do an ultrasound and/or x-rays to confirm that she is pregnant, and can tell you the approximate amount of puppies she is carrying.

My Lil chiweenie mated for the first time June 1st. And 2nd. Last Sat was 63 days. Her tests her large and hanging but hee belly is not big. I don't know what's going on with her.
I would recommend having her seen by your veterinarian. She may have experienced a pseudopregnancy where the hormones mimic pregnancy and can lead to milk production. Some small breed dogs have just one puppy at a time so it is also possible her belly just isn't that big - your veterinarian might recommend an x-ray or ultrasound to check and see if she is pregnant.

It is quite possible she is in pup - males can be fertile for 4-6weeks after castration so if they were not separated, or other males would have had access to her when she was in heat she may well be in pregnant. I recommend you schedule an ultrasound exam with your vet to confirm pregnancy and guide appropriate management. You will need to arrange a separate area for her and pups away from other dogs for at least 6weeks if she is rearing pups

Just like in people, yes a dog can get pregnant on the first attempt. If she is getting bigger and has some clear discharge from time to time, then that could be a sign that she is pregnant. Have her examined by your vet to confirm a pregnancy via ultrasound or x-ray. If you see any green or black discharge from her vagina, then that is a bad sign that something could be wrong with the pregnancy, and you should get her seen on an emergency basis. It could be possible that Cheeky is pregnant if she mated with your male dog when she was in heat, but without seeing her in person, there's no way I can say for certain. I would take her into a vet today who can do x-rays to confirm if she is pregnant or not. Best of luck, I hope this helps.

If she was mated the middle of August, say on the 15th, then she would now be around 40 days pregnant. This is now the time when the puppies are starting to grow and gain weight. This also means that your dog needs to be fed a good quality puppy food to provide enough nutrition for the puppies' growth. Average gestation is 63 to 65 days, so likely she will have her puppies in three to four weeks.

She may not be pregnant, the date may be incorrect or she may not have a large litter. Ideally, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian. Pregnancy can be confirmed via palpation, blood test or abdominal x-ray or ultrasound. The imaging may diagnose any other underlying condition as well.

I recommend you have Molly seen by your vet to make sure she is okay. Dogs usually go into heat around 6 months of age, but can also go into heat earlier, and often the first heat is not noticeable, as there is not always a lot of visible discharge. She may be pregnant, so speak to your vet about what your options are regarding that as well, and if you want to keep the puppies to term. I recommend having Molly spayed and your other dog neutered to help reduce the risk of unwanted pregnancies, certain undesirable behaviours, and certain diseases.
