Why is my cat not eating and weak after a respiratory infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 lbs

My cat maddie had a respiratory infection. She doesn't sneeze anymore or anything she did when she had it. But she won't eat really at all. She's so skinny her hips show and she just falls over when walking sometimes. She can't even meow. Is this maybe something from the infection? I don't have money right now. I don't know what to do. What could be wrong?i give her a packet of vitamin food and she can't even finish it. She only takes bout three licks (food in last pic) anything I could try?

How old in she? If the infection is cleared and she has no appetite and is losing weight, then she likely will need bloodwork or an xray/ultrasound to see what else is going on. It seems she is getting weak from lack of nutrients since she falls over and I would worry about her getting dehydrated. There is nothing you can do at home except try to encourage her to eat. You can try canned tuna, baby food, or variety of dry and canned food flavors to see if it will entice her.
