Pet's info: Dog | French Mastiff | Female | spayed | 96 lbs
I have noticed my dog bleeding out of her butt for the last couple days. I took a look and saw something look like it was sticking out or torn. She doesn't seem in pain and is acting normal. I've checked her stool but I don't see blood in it either.

This looks like a reuptured anal gland which may - many will heal uneventfully but you should monitor for pain, discharge or smell which may indicate an infection. I recommend you get the opposite gland checked by your vet as it may also be full; a high fibre diet can help prevent recurrence in the future

HI and thank you for using PetCoach! I am sorry that Bella has been having blood coming from her rectum. I am glad she is eating/drinking normally and feeling fine otherwise but it sounds like her anal glands may have ruptured. I recommend you take her in to see a veterinarian sooner rather than later since that can become infected very easily. Your veterinarian will perform a full physical exam, perform a rectal exam and determine if that is the case. Sometimes there can be a mass in the rectum that can look like this too. If it is an anal gland rupture (both can rupture at the same time), she will likely need pain medication, antibiotics and an Elizabethan collar to prevent her from licking back there. Good luck!
