Can my puppy drink milk or buttermilk? Is dairy safe for puppies?

Shall I give my rottweiler puppy milk or buttermilk apart from royal canin giant dog starter pack and cerelac?

Puppy milk is fine to give Prince, but given that he is one month of age, he really doesn't need it. As his age, water is the only liquid he needs. Please do not give him buttermilk. Dairy products cause GI upset in dogs, and he does not need it. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. If Maverick has always had milk, he can probably tolerate small amounts until 1 year. It should not be his primary source of food. This is true. Puppies this old cannot ingest milk so it is likely to just go straight through them and cause diarrhea. The best thing to give 2 month old puppies is a beginner puppy food such as Royal Canin --> https://www.royalcanin.com/us/dogs/products/retail-products/small-starter-mother-and-babydog-dry-dog-food This food is meant for puppies up to 2 months of age. Once they are going on 9 weeks old, then you can slowly transition them to a regular puppy formula food (dry or wet). It's not recommended to give dogs a lot of dairy products because it causes stomach upset in the form of vomiting and diarrhea. I can assure you that your grandfather is wrong, we are not liars. You may see vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or a loss of appetite from this. If you do see it, have Ollie seen by a vet.

No, I would not recommend giving Baby Girl any milk. Many dogs are lactose intolerant and can develop vomiting and diarrhea from consuming dairy products. Instead, feed her puppy food (extra calories for her growing pups!) and plenty of fresh water. Continue feeding puppy food until her puppies have weaned, then transition her back to adult dog food.

Around 4 weeks of age, you can begin to introduce soft puppy food (canned or moistened kibble) into the their diets in addition to their puppy milk replacer, such as Esbilac. Dogs of any age should not be given cow's milk, as most are lactose intolerant and can develop vomiting and diarrhea.

Feeding cow milk will not have any effect on intestinal worms. If you suspect your puppy has intestinal worms, your puppy will need to be dewormed with an the appropriate deworming medication from your veterinarian. I hope this helps!

Your puppy does not need cow milk and it can actually cause vomiting and diarrhea in some dogs. The puppy can go from mother's milk or a puppy milk replacer (if bottle feeding) right to eating a high quality puppy food. Cow milk is not recommended as it may lead to gastrointestinal upset (vomiting and diarrhea). An appropriate puppy milk replacer, such as Esbilac or Pet-Lac, is recommended in place of cow milk. Warmed milk is also recommended to prevent chill. A puppy likely will refuse cold milk of any kind unless very hungry.
