Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Zeus. These look like papules and pustules, pimples that either are solid or have pus. Both of these lesions are caused by a bacterial infection. The surface bacteria on the skin can get deeper in the skin and cause these lesions. It's caused by a staph bacteria that is not contagious to other dogs or people. Many things can cause this including allergies, primary skin infection, external parasites (fleas, ticks, mites, etc), contact irritants or allergens, among others. If these areas persist, worsen, become itchy, etc, then I would advise having your vet check Zeus. They can get a history and do a physical exam to look for signs of problems and causes. They may advise some diagnostic tests which could include skin scrape, skin cytology, fungal culture, etc. among other tests. Most of these cases are treated just by examining the pet. This may involve an effective flea/tick medicine, oral antibiotics, topical medicines, anti itch meds, etc. Good luck with Zeus.
